Ingredients
Equipment
Looking for a really easy tailgate meal? Instead of over-the-top chili, try chili over the top cornbread.
What you’ll need
- Cornbread (use our cornbread recipe on the Suckle Busters website)
- Leftover chili
- Shredded cheese
- Chopped jalapeños
- Sour cream

How to make chili over the top cornbread
- Make the cornbread. Use our cornbread recipe (it’s on the Suckle Busters website). Once it’s ready, you’re ready to build.
- Add the chili. Spread your leftover chili across the top, evenly. Make sure the cornbread is fully covered.
- Add the cheese. Spread shredded cheese over the entire top, covering the chili. It helps hold everything together on the grill.
- Add jalapeños. Chopped jalapeños—because we’re in Texas—and it takes the chili to the next level.
- Grill it. Put it on a 300° grill for about 15 minutes.
How to serve it
Slice it out and serve it in bowls. It’s a super easy recipe, especially if you’ve got leftover chili. Add a little extra chili on top, serve it with a spoon, and finish with a little sour cream.
How it tastes
Creamy sour cream, cheese, chili, sweet cornbread, and a little jalapeño all together. Very good. Very hardy.
